What can parents do at home to help?

1. Check your child's temperature.

2. Keep your child at home if they are experiencing any of the following symptoms:

- Temperature above 100.4 degrees by mouth within the past 24 hours

- Vomiting or diarrhea within the past 24 hours

- Cough or congestion that causes shortness of breath or has increase in wheezing during normal activity

- New onset or worsening runny nose, cough, congestion, or sore throat (not associated with allergies)

- Unexplained fatigue, muscle or body aches, or chills (Flu-like symptoms)

5. Encourage frequent hand washing. (Wash for 20 seconds using both soap and water.)

6. Clean high-contact surfaces regularly.

7. Wash clothes regularly.

8. Encourage daily showers.

9. Maintain healthy habits.

What are the morning procedures?

Please complete a self-check at home every morning.

If your student has symptoms, do not send them to school.

When will my child be sent home?

A student will be sent home if they are exhibiting symptoms.

When do I have to pick up my student?

When temperature and/or symptoms are noted, parents/guardians will be required to pick up students within 30 minutes of the notification. Please make arrangements to have someone available.

When can my child return to school?

Students who test positive for Covid-19 may return to school after the CDC 5 day isolation recommendation and they are fever, diarrhea, and vomiting free for 24 hours without the assistance of medication.

What if my child has seasonal allergies?

Please call your primary care provider for guidance.

What happens if there is a positive case in our home?

Monitor your student for symptoms. If symptoms develop they should remain home.

When do students need to wear masks?

As of February 28, 2022, per new CDC guidelines and the Ashland County community level, facial coverings are optional for the Mapleton Local School District in classrooms, buildings on campus, and on school transportation.
