Child Find Statement
In an effort to serve young people with disabilities, Mapleton Local Schools is continually in the process of locating and evaluating children from birth to 21 years of age who are suspected as having a disability.  Disabilities may include developmental delays, health impairments, autism, and traumatic brain injury.  Individuals may contact local school districts about children who may have a disability and may be eligible for special education services. District superintendents have information available about special education policies and procedures in each building by contacting the building principal.  If you have questions about the above-mentioned process, please call Morgan Lengacher, Director of Special Education, at 419-945-2188 ext. 8182 or Shelby Ortiz, Curriculum Director, at 419-945-2188 ext. 8180.

Ohio Department of Education Autism and John Peterson Scholarships
By law, public schools must inform parents and eligible students of their rights to consider application to the Ohio Department of Education’s Autism Scholarship (for students identified with autism) and the Jon Peterson Special Needs Scholarship Program (for students identified with an educational disability other than autism).  These scholarship programs offer parents and eligible students a choice to seek educational services from an approved provider rather than their home school district.

Additional information may be obtained at http://education.ohio.gov/Topics/Other-Resources/Scholarships.
